چکیده
This study aimed to investigate anaerobic co-digestion of palm oil mill effluent (POME) with cassava peels (CP) and cabbage waste (CW) for biomethane production. The digestion (AD) in 10L capacity bioreactors loaded separately three different ratios (3L/ 520g, 3L/ 600g 680g) POME/CP, POME/CW POME only (control) was operated under ambient temperature (25 - 36⁰C) pH range 6.5 8.5 45 days. Standard methods were adopted the characterization bioreactor feeds microbiological study. content biogas determined using Gas Chromatography (GC). results showed presence Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas sp, Bacillus sp Salmonella among others. Fungal isolates identified include Saccharomyces, Aspergillus, Rhizopus, Penicillum, Geotrichum species. mean cumulative yield recorded charged POME/ CP 600g, 680g 7.08, 5.18, 9.06, 9.13, 9.28 8.33 dm3, respectively, whereas alone 4.64 dm3. best performance exhibited by (9.28dm3), highest percentage (68.80%). Analysis variance (ANOVA) revealed a significant difference (P ≤ 0.05) all treatments compared control (POME alone) except POME/CP 3L: 520g 600g. have shown that production could be efficiently improved via process, depending on substrates used as feedstock.

Pretreated Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Digestion in an Up-Flow Anaerobic Sludge Fixed Film Bioreactor: a Comparative Study
An up-flow anaerobic sludge fixed film (UASFF) bioreactor was used to treat the pretreated palm oil mill effluent (POME). In physical pretreatment, POME was pre-settled for 2 h and the supernatant was fed into the reactor. In chemical pretreatment, optimum dosages of cationic and anionic polymers were used. Experiments of pretreated POME digestion were conducted based on a central composite fac...
متن کاملA Review of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (Pome) Water Treatment
Palm oil is one of the two most important vegetable oils in the world’s oil and fats market. The extraction and purification processes generate different kinds of waste generally known as palm oil mill effluent (POME). The environmental impact of POME cannot be over emphasized; hence the need for treatment measures to reduce these impacts before discharge. Therefore, this paper reviews the proc...
متن کاملThe Performance Evaluation of Anaerobic Methods for Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) Treatment: A Review
Palm oil mill effluent (POME) is an important source of inland water pollution when released into local rivers or lakes without treatment. In the process of palm oil milling, POME is generat‐ ed through sterilization of fresh oil palm fruit bunches, clarification of palm oil and effluent from hydro-cyclone operations [Borja et al.,1996a]. POME is a viscous brown liquid with fine suspended solid...
متن کاملBiomethanation of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) by Membrane Anaerobic System (MAS) using POME as a Substrate
The direct discharge of palm oil mill effluent (POME) wastewater causes serious environmental pollution due to its high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). Traditional ways for POME treatment have both economical and environmental disadvantages. In this study, a membrane anaerobic system (MAS) was used as an alternative, cost effective method for treating POME. Six...
